When do I register my child for Kindergarten?  Kindergarten registration for students living in the Big Springs' attendance area begins on March 1, 2012.  If you live outside of the Big Springs' attendance area and want your child to attend Big Springs, you need to fill out and file a School of Choice Application in the school office during the month of February.  This is the only month that School of Choice Applications will be accepted.

I have heard that there is a new school entry date for Kindergarteners coming in this year.  Is this true?  Yes!  Kindergarten students must turn five on or before November 1, 2012.  Next year, 2013,  kindergarten students must turn five on or before October 1, 2013.  In 2014, Kindergarten students must turn five on or before September 1, 2014.

I live in the Big Springs' attendance area.  What do I need to bring to register my child for kindergarten?  When you first come to pick up an enrollment form, you don't have to bring anything.  As soon as possible, however, we will need the completed enrollment form, proof of residence (a gas, electric or water bill showing your name and address), and a birth certificate, baptismal certificate, or passport.  We also need proof of a physical exam given after March 1, 2012, proof of a dental exam, and immunization records.  More information about these items is included in the kindergarten packet you will receive when you pick up the enrollment form.
